Happiness - Reality or Perspective

Your state of mind or perspective is your reality. For most of us, happiness is something we are always striving for, a place we want to be or when we acquire that material item, we always wanted. This type of thinking actually keeps us in a state of wanting but we never feel that we have arrived in happiness.
True happiness brings good health. Your thoughts are creating the environment you live in along with your diet and exercise. Your environment, positive or negative has a direct impact on your cells produced every day. A very important point to make in regards to why your state of happiness directly linked to your health. Dr. Bruce Lipton M.D. a cellular biologist describes in his book "The Biology of Belief", how your environment and happiness affect you on a cellular level. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in the facts and research proof.
We actually choose whether to be happy through our perspective of a situation. For example: We can complain about our old car and wish we had a new one or we can appreciate the fact that we have a car and be thankful for it. Take care of the repairs and start saving for the new car. If we think negative, we will generate negative thoughts and feelings, which will generate unhappiness and a stressful environment for cellular production. If we think positive having gratitude for what we have and are proactive in saving for the new car, we have generated positive thoughts. This will bring happiness every time we dream of driving our new car. This creates a healthy environment for cellular production. We are only hurting ourselves when we choose to be negative.
A good way to see where you are in your thoughts is to make a pro and con list of a situation, person, location or whatever it is that you are so unhappy about. At first, you will fill up the con list quickly, then you need to dig deeper and find something positive about it. If you tend to be pessimistic, you will find it challenging at first, but not impossible. Stay with it and you will eventually find yourself settling in and enjoying the process. Not to mention you will feel better. Counting our blessings daily is one of the best-kept secrets for healthy living.
Another important factor in the pursuit of happiness and health is to set aside time every day, even if it is just for 30 minutes to enjoy your favorite hobby or activity. Yes, I mean every day. Everyone can find time for this if you want to. It is just as important as brushing your teeth. If you allow yourself to enjoy your favorite activity on a daily basis, it will naturally bring joy into your life. Instead of resenting the fact that you never have time for you, you will feel balanced mentally and this will benefit you physically.
So you see, your favorite hobby or activity that usually ends up on the back burner because we feel other things are more important is actually one of the things we need the most for our health and happiness. Balance really is everything in life.
