Labor of Love - Mother's Day May 10, 2009

We want to please our parents and sometimes we get tangled up trying so hard. You don’t have to spend large amount of money to show Mom you love her. Moms love everything their children do for them. Especially if it’s heart felt, homemade, or an effort made by giving your time. If finances are tight, that’s OK, this is the perfect time to show Mom you care and you will feel great for the effort you put into it.
If your Mom has crossed over like mine has, you can still share with her how you feel. They can hear you, and remember, you are their happiness, even in spirit. They feel joy and happiness as they watch over you. They always want the best for you. I always light a candle on my Mom’s birthday and other special times like Mother’s Day in honor of my mother. I talk to her and let her know I am thinking of her and that I love her.
Here are a few suggestions and tips to make this Mother’s Day a special day for both of you.
Give Mom a day of your time by helping her with chores and/or repairs around the house or garden. If she is a busy Mom and usually does these things herself. She will very much appreciate this labor of love.
Get in the kitchen and make Mom’s favorite dish. Homemade from you is always a winner, think of a dish Mom taught you to make and show her that you actually listen to her at times! Moms love this.
Write a poem or letter sharing how much you appreciate all the things your Mom has taught you and all the times she has been there for you. You can even create a homemade card for Mom. You don’t have to be artistic or creative to share how you feel.
How about just spend the day with her! If you live long distance, phone calls of course. I use internet video phone with my son Joe in Texas and it’s great. We can talk live and be together and of course I can see my grandson this way :)
These are just a few ideas to get you started. If any of you have ideas you would like to add please post and share.
