Show Description: Uniting Science and Spirit: The Jenn Royster Show - Host Dr Jenn Royster welcomes her guest, award winning author of, "The Holy Universe" David Christopher to discuss Uniting Science and Spirit in a New Story of Creation. Many of us have left the faiths of our forebears, unable to reconcile the stories and myths of the ages with the Age of Reason. Yet our souls need more than than the facts of science alone—we lost much when we abandoned our stories, and our culture’s emphasis on a mechanistic worldview, while bringing us much, has also brought us ecological, social, and spiritual crises.

David brings life to the scientific study of the Universe, transforming it into a lyrical narrative of the story of Creation, and showing us how this new story might help each of us on our paths through the many crises we now face on Earth—and why these crises might be the best thing that ever happened to humanity.

About: David Christopher is an award-winning author and teacher of the “new story,” a story that integrates the science of the 20th and 21st centuries with a spiritual sensibility toward the creation of the Universe.

He became intrigued with this story over 15 years ago. But as he dove deeper into this new worldview, he felt something was missing. He missed the poetry. He missed the lyricism of the liturgy and the sound and cadence of the scriptures. He wanted more. He wanted a story that also felt like the story given to him in his youth.

This led him to write The Holy Universe: A New Story of Creation for the Heart, Soul and Spirit, which recently won the Silver in the Nautilus Book Awards for Religion and Spirituality. David brings life to the scientific study of the Universe, transforming it into a lyrical narrative of the story of Creation.

Leaving behind corporate and airline careers, David has pursued his passion for exploring the answers to humanity’s questions about our place in the Universe, bringing forth this new story for our turbulent times.

The dialogues within The Holy Universe are an outgrowth of 15 years of David’s delving into the works of transformational scientists, philosophers, and theologians, along with his work with the Pachamama Alliance’s Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium.

He wrote the book in part for people like him who call themselves “spiritual but not religious,” who are trying to make sense of the craziness going on in the world and who seek a meaningful path through the global crises we collectively face.

The title for this book is a rough estimate of the number of steps he took while walking the Camino de Santiago. Over the course of a kilometer, he counted 1,153 steps.
