Heal Thyself – A Natural Approach To Build the Immune System.

 

 

There are many ways to boost your immune system and/or strengthen a weakened one. With all the concern recently regarding the swine flu, I felt this would be a good topic for this post. I cannot stress enough that many things contribute to the drain that our immune system  goes through on a daily basis. That’s why you want balance in your life as much as possible. It’s not about taking a supplement only or just exercising ourselves to the point of exhaustion. It’s a combination of everything we can do. So with this in mind, let me start by listing some of the many ways we can help ourselves.

  1. Stress is a product of life. So it must be dealt with. Instead of draining your immune system by fearing you might catch a virus, get proactive and do something about it. Fear and worry create stress, and stress drains the immune system. This is counterproductive. Instead, put your thoughts and energy into activities such as exercise, meditation, massage therapy, hypnosis, yoga and hobbies that bring you joy. This will support and strengthen your immune system. By releasing stress, you allow your immune system to gain strength and take care of you.
  2. We all know a healthy diet will support our immune system, but what if you do catch a bug? Here a few alternative remedies and links I posted that have good research and documentation for you. Howard and I personally use a combination of Astragalus, Spirulina with Zinc, Vitamin C, and the B vitamins when we feel we need a boost. We don’t take this everyday. Just when needed. This combination works very well for us but you need to research all of these natural supplements thoroughly yourself to see if they will work for you. Some medications will conflict with some herbal supplements so you need to READ and compare with your own personal health history.

I want this to empower you and give you control over your health. There is so much we can do for ourselves. The bottom line is, YOU have to be proactive and do it.

Our thoughts become our reality, so I choose to think positive and take care of the body I was blessed with in this lifetime. I wish the same for you.
